Bettie Lee Womack Beckman

Bettie Womack Beckman former resident of Brazoria County was born April 28, 1933, in Lufkin Texas, and went to be with Jesus January 8, 2021. Bettie was living at Hemphill Care Center, in Hemphill, Texas and was a victim of the Pandemic that has so ravaged our country. Bettie fell sick with COVID and never fully recovered. We were so blessed with the love Hemphill Care Center and Hospice showed our Mother in her last years, and in her last days. They always treated us and made us feel like Family whenever we came through the door.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John (Bud) Thomas Womack, Annie McClendon Womack; husband, Dale Beckman; brothers, Nath Womack and Waymon Womack and sister-in-law Alma Womack.

Bettie loved baseball, and loved Collecting Baseball cards, and Baseball paraphernalia. Her Baseball Heroes were very special to her. Nolan Ryan and Jose Canseco were at the top of her list. When asked who her favorite was Jose always got the nod. She always loved gardening and working with her flowers and vegetables, and loved to learn and read. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1951 and continued her education at Tyler commercial college where she received her Associates Degree in 1980.

Bettie is survived by her son, Charles Buchanan and wife Jo Ann; daughter, Kathy Tomlinson and husband Randy; brother, John Richard Womack and Catherine Womack; Sister-in-law, Sally Womack; Grandchildren, Derrick and Becky Buchanan; Christina Buchanan; Morgan and Jessica Tomlinson; Shanda and Jeremy Warren; and 11 Great-Grandchildren; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be held at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute TX., Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Graveside service will be in Jones Creek at Gulf Prairie Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Buchanan, Morgan Tomlinson, Seth Tomlinson, Gavin Hoffman, Jay Womack, and Brent Womack.
