She is predeceased by her husband, Jack Leflet, mother, Sybil Nelson, father, Roy Lee Bonner Jr, brothers, Roy Lee Bonner III, John Robert Bonner and James Richard Bonner, and 2nd husband Buddy Charrier. Penny was born in Pampa, TX on March 30, 1947 to Roy Lee Bonner III and Sybil Joy Lee Bonner. On July 18, 1964, she married Jackie Monroe Leflet in Pampa, TX. On May 18, 1965, they welcomed their only daughter, Jacqueline Marie, who was the most important part of her life. Penny was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family unconditionally. She worked hard and played hard. She and Jack moved to Freeport in 1967 before making their home in Lake Jackson. He worked in the flooring business before finally opening a business of their own. They were proud to open Fashion Floors in Freeport, which over the years became B&B Carpet in Clute, TX. Jack died in 1972 and Penny never faltered. She ran B&B Carpet for 20 years and made a lucrative living for her and Jackie and was respected by the business community. Just for the joy of being around people, she worked the door at the Armadillo Ballroom with her friends throughout its existence. After closing the store in 1992, and through her experience working in new construction, she went to work for Ballard Builders and Thermal Tech Homes as the superintendent and helped build the beautiful homes of the people in our community. She loved helping people make a home in our beautiful city. On November 7, 2001, she married Buddy Charrier, a Dow retiree and lived with him until his death in 2015. Before retiring, she worked for Carriage Inn Lake Jackson as the office manager. It was the joy of her life to honor our “greatest generation” by serving them and bringing fun, love and joy to their lives. Penny loved to travel the world and share those travels with the ones she loved. She was generous with her love and everyone’s favorite person. She loved to dance and read and was a storyteller like no other. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
