We Care.... Because You Care
ServicesHere at Stroud Funeral Home, we offer several types of funeral services. The funeral helps deal with the reality that a loved one has died. It provides a time and place to remember and talk about the life and death of a loved one. The funeral is an appropriate time to say goodbye which begins the healing process. Before choosing a funeral service, take in the consideration the needs of each individual family members and the many options available to your family. The funeral you select is a statement that your family makes to the community and should meet the needs of everyone in your family. All arrangements may be tailored to your personal needs.
The Traditional Funeral Service is when your loved one is present. Generally, there is a visitation the night before with the casket open. The service itself is normally the following day either in the chapel of the funeral home or in a church chosen by the family. Sometimes a family may choose to have the visitation a couple of hours prior to service time. Often, there is a reception to follow at the church or the family's home.
A Memorial Service is when the deceased is not present. It may take place at the funeral home, the family's home, a church, or even outdoors. This is a time to remember your loved one through fellowship with friends and family. The memorial service can also be an addition to the traditional funeral service.
The Committal Service is a burial service at the gravesite after a traditional funeral service. This is where family and friends say their final goodbyes at the resting place. When the committal service becomes the only service, it then becomes what we call a Graveside Service and a visitation would be the night before. The graveside service is a more lengthy service consisting of scripture reading, eulogy and music.
Direct Cremation is when there is no funeral ceremony. The deceased is place in a refrigeration unit until the proper paperwork has been completed and the necessary permits obtained. The body is then placed in a cremation receptacle (container) and transported to the crematory where the cremation process is performed. Once the cremation process is completed, the cremated remains are placed in an urn and returned to the next of kin for whatever final disposition the family chooses, i,e, burial, placing in a niche, or to be kept. A memorial service often accompanies the family's choice of direct cremation.
We also offer a traditional funeral service followed by a cremation. Cremation does not restrict you from having a visitation, open casket, or funeral service.
