Vera Ellis Thompspn Copeland left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 22, 2019 in Lake Jackson, Texas. Vera was born on March 20, 1925 in Farrar, Texas to Theodore Jackson Ellis and Beulah Demarice Foley Ellis.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Marvin Earl Thompson. They had one daughter together, (Bonnie Sue Dickey) . She also lost her second husband, William Ancil Copeland, and three sister, (Bae Tumlinson, Francis Case, and Ozie Lewis), and three brothers, (Happy Jack Ellis, Bo Ellis, and James Ellis).
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Dickey and, as she would say her favorite son-in-law David Dickey of Lake Jackson, Texas. Grandsons, Tracy Dickey (Lupe) of Rosenberg, Texas, and Kevin Dickey (Vikki) of Brazoria, Texas and three great grandchildren, Colton Dickey (Makayla) of Centerville, Texas, Bradley Dickey and Shelby Dickey of West Columbia, Texas. One brother Lawrence Ellis of Lake Jackson, Texas. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Vera was a blessing to her family and all who knew her. She loved our Father God and Savior Jesus Christ and shared them as a Sunday School Teacher and a Youth Leader for many years. She also blessed many people with her good cooking.
The family would like to express thanks to Tracy Soileau, Mary Lou, Sheryl, Pat and all the staff and employees at Elmcroft for their help and support during her years there.
We also deeply appreciate A-Med Hospice and Nurse Ann Nishett and her assistants for their excellent care and kindness.
Special thanks also to the wonderful caring sitters who so faithfully sat with Vera 24/7. These special ones are Sandra Trevino, Cynthia Hands, Amber Haskett, and Shavonne Epps.
Special thanks also to Dr. Antony Thomas for his excellent care to Vera for many years. Thanks to Frances Stephens, her beloved and faithful beautician for many years. Thanks to her special dear friend, Ruth Osburn.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Tracy and Kevin Dickey, great grandsons Colton and Bradley Dickey, and great nephews James Jacobsen and Craig Peavy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, Texas. The service will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday April 25, 2019 at Stroud Funeral Home with Thomas Lester officiating and vocalist Heather Bell. Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute.
