Jim Bob Holloway

September 9, 1952 –September 27, 2021

Jim Bob Holloway, 69, rose above the earthy bonds on September 27, 2021.  He was born September 9, 1952 on Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah to Jack Ramon Holloway and Nora Helen McCallay.  In 1959, Jim was adopted by Maurice Bailey.

Jim spent his early years in Clute and Oyster Creek.  He was a restless kid, who loved going to the beach, skinny dipping with friends in the pond in the Oyster Creek woods, and riding his bike to who knew where.  He was prone to accidents from falling off the neighbor’s fence to chipping his front teeth coming from the road, through the ditch and into another neighbor’s fence post.  He was a hard working fellow, and purchased his first motorcycle at 14.

Jim honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from October 31, 1973 to October 27, 1976 in Germany.  Jim earned a technical associate degree from Texas A & M, and worked in Houston, Denver, New Hampshire and Tennessee.

For over 34 years, Jim was a faithful member of Alcohol Anonymous.  During these years, Jim became a quiet Bible scholar.  He was deeply and quietly a faithful believer in God and the innate goodness of mankind.  In his late 50s he had open heart surgery and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder which affected his ability to work regularly. At the time of his death, he had previously undiagnosed diabetes.  Through it all he was a generous and fiercely protective father and grandfather.

Jim is survived by his Mother, Nora Helen McCallay Bailey, daughter, Gloria Lynn Holloway and her six children, his step son, Robert Thomas Gernand Holloway and his three children, his sister, Josephine Holloway Bailey Jarrell and husband Curtis F. Jarrell, Jr., his brothers Roland Maurice Bailey and William Stewart Bailey, and his sister, Janet Holloway Breaux and husband Bruce Breaux.  He was beloved by his nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins.  He is also survived by his former wives, Dena Shawn Miller and Denise Norris.

He is preceded in death, by Jack R. Holloway, Maurice Bailey, and the mother of his children, Kathy Lynn Brautigam.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 300 Willow Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566.
