Myrtle Filmore Crosby Bullard passed away peacefully on April 11th. 2019 in Pleasanton, Texas at the age of 95. Myrtle was born in Jones Creek, Texas on September 13th. 1923 and married Joseph (Speedy) Bullard on September 19th. 1942 after meeting while playing fast pitch softball together, Myrtle was one of the best pitchers on the first Freeport Women’s Softball League, of course Speedy was Manager of the Lake Jackson Gators at the time. They were best of friends Hunting and Fishing partners and always had a competition of who could kill the biggest buck or catch the biggest fish. They had three wonderful Children, Tannah Kay Bullard Tolbirt husband Randy from Pleasanton, Texas, Rhonda Faye Bullard Cox from Austin, Texas, Joe Paul Bullard wife Candy from Lake Jackson, Texas. She was Grammie to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who all adored her. Myrtle worked at the first Lake Jackson Post Office after graduation from high school. Later she worked at the Lake Jackson Police Station as a dispatcher for many years. Her family being the Crosby’s were one of the first families to settle in the Peach Point area of Jones Creek around 1830 with a grant from Stephen F. Austin, they opened one of the first Ports in Texas on the Brazos River know as Crosby Landing. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas M. Crosby & Myrtle Benton Crosby and five siblings; Thomas M. Crosby, George E. Crosby, Rachel Crosby Tracy, Claude M. Crosby, and Octavia Crosby Underwood Rodriguez. She will be missed by all that had the pleasure to call her Mom, and Grammie and a friend. She had a wonderful kind fun loving spirit which led her through a great live.  What a great rejoice she and Speedy will have in Heaven.

 

A Visitation and Ceremony will be held Friday the 26th. visitation at 10:00am and Ceremony at 11:00am both at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, Texas.
