Randal Mitchell Bunch, affectionately known as Randy, of Clute, Texas, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hermann Hospital TMC on June 8th, 2024 at 1:36 a.m., He was 66 years old.

Born on April 20, 1958, in Galveston, Texas, Randy was a proud son of the South raised by Homer Middleton Bunch and Marion Grace Bunch. Alongside his five siblings, Randy spent his formative years in Houston before relocating to New Kinkler in 1972 to embrace the rural life on the family farm.

Randy’s passion for life was evident in everything he did. During his high school years in Hallettsville, he was a proud member of the FFA, and a competitive athlete. On the football field, Randy was a standout on the Hallettsville Brahmas football team, earning the endearing nickname “Captain Crunch” given to him by Coach Billy Seale for his tenacious playing style, notably during the 1976 and 1977 semifinal games for a run at the state title.

An avid outdoorsman, Randy found peace and joy in nature. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying a barbecue with loved ones, Randy cherished his time spent in the great outdoors. His passion extended to sharing these experiences with his children and grandchildren. His love for the outdoors was surpassed only by his devotion to his family.

Beyond his personal pursuits, Randy was known for his generous spirit and unwavering commitment to his community. He dedicated his time, and resources, to various charitable causes, and fundraising benefits. Affectionately referred to as “Bunch” by many, Randy’s contagious spirit and boundless kindness for others touched the lives of all who knew him.

Randy had various jobs over the years that started on the family farm. He was a true handyman and could fix anything with some Duct tape. Throughout his life he worked for Penrod Drilling Co., on the oil rigs in Zapata Texas, the American Rice Company at the Port of Freeport and lastly worked as an electrician and construction foreman in Dow at Thermon, Inc. for 25 years. He cherished his coworkers and the places he worked.

Randy is survived by his loving spouse, Dawn Perkins, his daughters Brandy (Cody) Pendergraft and Britt (Brian) Veasey, stepchildren Christopher (Stephanie) Perkins, Joel Perkins, and Kaylea Arnold, Grandchildren, Hunter Grant, Avery Grant, Grace Pendergraft, Harrison Hayes, Hartlee Hayes, Jack Veasey, Aubrie Perkins, Ty Perkins, Savannah Perkins, Rylea Perkins, Jace Perkins and Emma Perkins. Siblings, Debi Gabler, Laura Bunch, and Eric Bunch along with many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Marion Bunch, and siblings Middy Bunch and David Bunch.

In honoring Randy’s memory, let us celebrate his life lived to the fullest, his unwavering kindness, and his legacy of generosity. A celebration of life will be Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Stroud Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
