| Larry “Z” Zitzke, of Brazoria Texas, passed away on June 25, 2024 at home with his loving family surrounding him. He was born December 1, 1948 in Rockford, Illinois. Son of Fred and Margaret (Henry) Zitzke. He married Debbie Struven on August 7, 1987, in Rockford. After retiring from AT&T he started Z’s Painting in Rockford where he made many lasting friendships. He is a veteran of the United States Navy having served May 1, 1967 to January 1971. He enjoyed Golfing, Fishing, Bowling, and playing Baseball . He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and White Sox. Larry loved people, enjoyed a good time, traveling and the ocean. If anyone needed help Larry was there! Nobody was a stranger to him. His special sense of humor and kindness will always be with us. He also had a strong love for animals, especially giraffes and dogs.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Debbie, son Chad (Carolynn), step-daughters, Stina (Ken) Topolski and Stephanie (Gary) Gartman. He was lovingly known as “Jeep Grandpa” to grandsons Hunter, Mathew and Daniel and granddaughters Nicole and Kimberly. He is also survived by his sister Cheryl and brother Steve and aunt Sandy. He is predeceased by daughter Lia, brother Mike and very special grandson Hunter. We lovingly thank our special friend Holly Bowman and Laurie Delgado with Divinity Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rockford Illinois on July 28th, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
