Matthew Scoggins, 35, of Lake Jackson, TX, passed away on October 21, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1990, in Webster, TX, to Barry and Sheilah Scoggins.
Matthew was a devoted son, a proud and loving father, and a loyal friend. He had an unwavering passion for the New Orleans Saints — he never missed an opportunity to watch a game and supported his team wholeheartedly, win or lose. Matthew found peace in the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as spending time on the beach. His genuine heart, steady presence, and sense of humor made a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Scoggins, and his grandfather, Arville Wallace, Jr.
Matthew is survived by his children, Brayden, Blake, and Makayla Scoggins; his parents, Barry and Sheilah Scoggins; his paternal grandparents, Doyle and Janice Scoggins; and his maternal grandmother, Jean Wallace. He was also deeply loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 11:30AM – 1:00PM with service immediately following at The Rock Church, 540 S Main St, Clute, TX 77531.
Pallbearers will be Brayden Scoggins, Noah Luna, Jadon Luna, Eric Wallace, Cameron Wallace, and Joel Velez Jr.
Honorary pallbearer will be Blake Scoggins and Carter Wallace.
