November 8, 1953 – December 10, 2025

Jo Westmoreland, 72, of Oyster Creek, Texas, passed away after a long and valiant battle against breast cancer on December 10, 2025. Born on November 8, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, Jo lived a life defined by quiet strength, kindness, and deep devotion to the people she loved.

For more than 20 years, Jo worked as a barber, a profession she cherished. She took pride in her craft and truly enjoyed the customers who became part of her everyday life. In addition to her barber career, Jo dedicated herself to courageous volunteer work with the Oyster Creek Fire Department. She drove the department’s large tanker during numerous wildfires and served shoulder-to-shoulder with her husband and fellow volunteers. Her bravery, willingness to face danger, and commitment to protecting her community reflected the quiet heroism that defined her life.

Outside of work, Jo found joy in the simple, meaningful things- camping beneath Texas skies, getting lost in a good book, and spending precious time with her grandchildren.

Though soft-spoken and reserved, Jo had a gift for listening.

She was the kind of person others naturally confided in, a steady friend who offered warmth without needing many words. Her presence was gentle, but her impact was lasting

Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Bill & Faye Pate, and her brother-in-law, Donnie Harborth. Jo is survived by her husband, Mark Westmoreland; her daughter, Cristi (Troy) Biehle; her grandchildren, Jadyn & Jace Biehle; her sister, Terri Harborth; and her brothers, Bob Pate, Bill Pate, and Larry (Tina) Pate; and her numerous and beloved nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her quiet wisdom, loving heart, and steady companionship.

A celebration of Jo’s life will be held the second weekend of June 2026 at her home in Oyster Creek, Texas, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory.
