Michael Charles Dougherty, 78, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026. After a bravely and lengthy fought battle with several illnesses, he peacefully left this earthly world to be with his Heavenly Father. Michael was born on October 13, 1947 in Painesville, Ohio to Paul and and Agnes Dougherty. He spent his childhood and adolescent years dedicated to school and played many sports. His love for others was evident in the many friends who cherished him. He graduated from Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio in 1966. Michael married the love of his life, Donna Vincent Dougherty, on February 20, 1976. Shortly after, Michael and Donna moved from Ohio to Texas for him to pursue his career. He was employed by Shintech Incorporated as a Chemical Technician from 1976 until his retirement in 2008. Michael was a kind, loving, patient, and Godly man who touched the lives of all who were blessed to know him. He was a loyal and faithful servant to the Lord, his friends, and his beloved family. His favorite past time was playing golf, the game he loved dearly. He had a great passion for and loyalty to watching and rooting for THE Ohio State University and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Michael was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Lake Jackson and The Knights of Columbus Council 6812 for over 50 years, where he was a 4th Degree and previous Grand Knight. His greatest joy was being a Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Agnes Dougherty, “Grandpa” Joseph Galicky, Aunt Alice McCarthy; first born Granddaughter Kimberly Dougherty, and sister Mary Bray. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife of 50 years, Donna Vincent Dougherty, two sisters; Paulette Howard and husband Bob of Painesville, Ohio and Diane Dougherty of Avondale, Georgia, his children; daughter Bobbi Krihwan of Lake Jackson, Texas, son Joseph Dougherty of Houston, Texas, son Mickey Dougherty and wife Sarah Rogers Dougherty of San Antonio, Texas, and daughter Cathryn O’Toole of Crestview, Florida, Grandchildren; Cory Gilmore and wife Sarah Horton Gilmore of Wild Peach, Texas, Cameron Dougherty of San Antonio, Texas, Charlotte Countryman and husband Lucas Kraus of Crestview, Florida, Adam O’Toole of Fort Hood, Texas, and Luke O’Toole of Crestview, Florida, Great Grandchildren; Teagan Horton, Caden and Maisy Gilmore, Corbin Countryman, Owen and Maisey Kraus, along with Tenley and Jacelyn Harper who held a very special place in his heart, as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are Cory Gilmore, Cameron Dougherty, Mike Humphreys, Thomas Penny, Johnny Self, Mike Perry, and Aaron Ware. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be given to the Knights of Columbus Council 6812 and St. Vincent De Paul. A Visitation will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 from 5-7pm with a Rosary to follow. A funeral mass on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11am. All held at St. Michaels Catholic Church at 100 Oak Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566.
