October 1, 1940-April 14, 2026

Lonnie William Carr Sr, 85, of Oyster Creek passed away on April 14, 2026. He was born in Rosharon, TX on October 1, 1940 to Jabe Carr Sr and Grace Waldrip-Carr-Ford. He was raised in Oyster Creek along with his two beloved siblings, Jabe Carr Jr and Dorothy Andrews. He married the love of his life, Alice Carr, on August 28, 1964, with whom he shared a wonderful 61 years of marriage. He attended Brazosport High School followed by Sam Houston State University where he completed a degree in Accounting in 1967.

After completing his degree, Lonnie and Alice returned to Oyster Creek where he took a job at DOW as a computer programmer. He was known in the office for playing pranks on his coworkers such as shaking up their cans of Pringles, calling them “mashed potatoes”, and shooting the cherry off of their cigarettes with a rubber band.

Lonnie was a devoted family man and was the proud father of Grace Allison Carr and Lonnie William Carr Jr. They loved their visits to Antonelli’s root beer stand for root beer floats and having wrapping paper tube fights every Christmas.  Grace and Lonnie Jr remained close to home and they always knew that they could reach out to their father for a helping hand.

One of his favorite titles was “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren Victoria Ruth Carr, Lori Allison Warren, Hannah Leanne Alvarez, Lonnie William Carr III, Cade Michael Browning, and Jon Carter Lee Carr-Walls. He loved having rubber-band wars with them while never leaving his recliner and he only let them win in a game of pool if he was feeling generous (or if his grandsons used a trick cue ball.) He also proudly welcomed great-grandchildren Caison Liam Browning, Emerson Ruth Alvarez, Theo Elijah Carr, Ilena Trochez, and Ian Trochez.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Jabe Carr Sr and Grace Waldrip-Carr-Ford,  brother Jabe Carr Jr, daughter Grace Allison Carr, and grandchildren Lori Allison Warren and Jon Carter Lee Carr-Walls. He is survived by his wife Alice Carr, sister Dorothy Andrews, son Lonnie William Carr Jr (Veronica Carr), and grandchildren Victoria Carr (Ian Brazier), Hannah Alvarez (James Alvarez), Lonnie Carr (Niurka Carr), and Cade Browning (Kaili Browning).

Lonnie was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved tinkering with things in his shop. He loved the Lord and earned the title of Deacon at Oyster Creek Baptist church where he sang with his deep bass voice every Sunday. He adored his wife until the day of his passing. He loved babies and he always had them in a trance with his amazing Donald Duck impression. He was full of love and life and he will be sorely missed by his family.

John 16:22

“Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

A visitation will be held on Friday April 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. At Stroud Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Sandy Pointe Cemetery.
