Imogene Rucker Griffin, lovingly known as “Honey, “was blessed to have spent 90 beautiful years on this earth. She passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026 due to a sudden illness, with her devoted husband by her side.
Honey was born on January 6, 1936, in Troup, Texas, to Benjamin and Beatrice Rucker. She built a life centered around love, laughter, and devotion to family.
She dedicated 25 years of her career to The Dow Chemical Company as an Administrative Assistant, where she was fondly known as “Imo” or “Imogene”. Her vibrant personality and natural humor made her a beloved presence, often taking center stage by dressing up and performing in skits for Dow retiree parties—-bringing joy and laughter to all who attended.
Honey was a woman full of life—comical, entertaining, and full of flair. She was flamboyant, beautiful, and loved her bling. She lived by her favorite saying: “If you can’t see it from across the street, don’t buy it, don’t wear it.” Whenever she entered a room, she was dressed for success and simply radiant.
More than anything, Honey loved her family fiercely. She was the heart of her family—a true Queen and beloved matriarch. What brought her the greatest joy, aside from her kitties and sweet doggies, was helping others. If someone was in need, Honey was always there, offering kindness, compassion, and unwavering support.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Griffin, who treated her like a Queen every day until her last breath; her daughters, Billie Hollis and Samantha Adkins Odom; her grandchildren, Chris Hollis and Marshall Tullous; and her great-grandchildren, Caden Gifford and Audrey Hollis. She also leaves behind her precious dog Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bennie Ruth; her granddaughter, Brandy Miller; her son-in-law, Tommy Odom and her beloved dogs Biggio and Molly.
Honey’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and strength will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
A special thanks to Choice Hospice for their undeniable compassionate care for Honey. We also could not have made it through this difficult time without her nurses Ann and Sarah. Honey adored her Spa Days with Crystal and Rosa—Our family cannot thank you enough for the care and real love you showed our sweet Honey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
