Marie Gray, 93, passed away peaceful in her home surrounded by her loved ones on June 28, 2026. She lived her life her way, adventurous and steadfast. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Born in Castleberry, Alabama to William and Louise Brown. She became a Texan in 1950 where she met her husband of 47 years and had three children.
Preceded in death by her husband, James L. Gray Jr. and daughter Wanda J. Gray Carter.
She is survived by her son James L. “Roy” Gray III wife Deborah Wolters Gray, and Daughter Pamela D Gray Morris,
Nanny to Rochelle Carter Swindler, and Michael, James L. Gray IV, and Tempest, Shannon McMillian, and Chris, Crystal Yielding, and Ronnie, Heather Richards, and Ricky, Kimberly Robertson, and Brett.
Nanny to 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Along with several extended “adopted” children and grandchildren. Marie loved her family and the more the merrier was her moto. Marie was an avid embroiderer and crocheter and loved to share her beautiful work with everyone she met.
She will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Stroud Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. She will be laid to rest at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas.
