Salome Cardenas, born January 9, 1945, in Freeport, Texas, passed away on July 25, 2026, in Lake Jackson, Texas. She lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, strength through hardship, and an unwavering work ethic that touched countless lives.
Salome dedicated over 40 years of service as a custodian for Brazosport ISD, where she was known for her reliability and pride in her work. Her commitment to her job reflected the same dedication she carried into every part of her life.
Above all, Salome was a strong woman who deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and family. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by them, and her love was felt in every moment she shared with those she cared for.
She is survived by her seven sons: Rudy Hernandez Jr (Grace), Frank Hernandez (Silvia), Mario Hernandez, Manuel Silva, Erasmo Silva, Ramiro Silva, and Quirino Silva (Maria); as well as 12 grandchildren, 21 great‑grandchildren, and 1 great‑great‑grandchild, all of whom carry her memory forward with pride and love.
She is also survived by her siblings: Jessie Alvarado (Carolyn), Louie Albarado (Shirley), Maria Garcia, Rudy Albarado, and Alfred Hernandez (Sharon); and numerous family members who loved her dearly. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom she cherished and saw as her own children.
Her parents, Joe Albarado and Maria Lara, preceded her in death, as did her siblings Joe Albarado, Isabelle (Chavela) Salinas, and Robert Alvarado.
A visitation will be held on July 30th from 6:00–8:00 PM at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, Texas. A church mass will follow on Friday, July 31st, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 10:00 AM in Angleton, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Josh Hernandez, Erasmo Silva Jr., Emilio Zapata, Jonathan Quintero, Daniel Frohlich, Matthew Hernandez, and Fabian Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers include Rudy Hernandez III, Frank Hernandez, Nathaniel Silva, Jonathan Silva, and Marco Silva.
Salome will be remembered for her strong and lively presence, her deep love for her family, and the legacy she leaves behind through her children and grandchildren. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
