Torcha Lanell Kyle, 86, of Clute passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024.

Torcha was born on September 22, 1937, in Bedias, Texas. She grew up in Clute and graduated from Brazosport High School. She worked for First State Bank of Clute for many years where she ultimately retired in 2000. She was a talented artist and crafter. Torcha loved sharing her homemade crafts with family and friends. She was a lover of nature and animals and spent as much time as she could in the outdoors. She also cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they loved spending time at “Grandmas”. She was a caring, fun mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Coleman C. and Ada A. Newton; brother Gerald Newton, sisters Maurice Byrd and Peggy Danford; and infant son Robert E. Kyle, Jr. She is survived by R.E. “Bob” Kyle of Clute, Texas; brother Jessie Ray Newton of Angleton, Texas; her daughter Laura Whitlow of Clute, Texas; son Larry Kyle and his wife Martina of Clute, Texas; grandchildren Clayton Whitlow, Wade Whitlow, Robert Kyle and Ashley van Haaren. Torcha was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren.

Per Torcha’s wishes, there will be a graveside service at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute, Texas on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Brazoria County at 141 Canna Lane, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566.
