Dexter William Ryan, 93, of Lake Jackson passed away on January 23, 2025. He was born January 10, 1932 in Forrest City, MO to Floy and Howard Ryan. He embodied honor, he was a true gentleman, and his unwavering positivity touched many lives.
Dexter served as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician in the United States Air Force for 24 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. Dexter was a Vietnam and Korean War veteran, and he completed tours throughout Europe and Asia. Dexter then joined Petroleum Helicopters International (PHI) as a helicopter mechanic where he worked for 35 years.
Lovingly known as “Mr. Fixit”, Dexter had a gentle soul with a heart of pure gold. He was quiet and patient, always ready to lend an ear, and cherished spending time with his family and loved ones. Whether fishing, gardening, watching sunsets with his neighbors, or enjoying western movies with his dog, Dexter found joy in life’s simple pleasures. His generosity also extended beyond his family and friends, and he enjoyed volunteering at the Alicia Ortiz Social Service Center with his wife, Martha. Dexter lived a full and joyous life, sharing his kind, gentle, and bighearted spirit with others.
Dexter is survived by his wife, Martha, his sister, Ruby James, his sons Marvin Ryan and Robert Ryan, his daughters Lana Nash, Pam Eidet, Sandy Ryan, and Sherry Lin, and several generations of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his former spouse, Lorraine, his late wife, Nina, and his siblings Nancy, Junior, and Barbara.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday, January 28th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute. His funeral mass will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Brazoria on Wednesday, January 29th at 10:00 am. A burial service will take place at Perry Cemetery on Thursday, January 30th at 12:00 pm in Cypress.
