Elva Fuentes Mendez, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2025 after a courageous battle with dementia. Known for her spunky spirit, sense of humor, and loving heart, Elva was a woman full of life, funny, strong, and never one to be played with. Her energy and sass left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
Elva dedicated 26 years of her life working as a housekeeper, taking great pride in her work and caring deeply for the people she served. Her hard work, faith, and love for others reflected the strength and character she carried every day.
She is survived by her husband, Margarito Mendez, and her loving children, Rene Ramos (Claudia Sandoval) Rosemary Escalante, Julie Ortiz (Raul Ortiz Jr.), and Eligio Ramos (Vanessa Ramos), along with their families. She was a proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother of 21 great-grandchildren.
She will be lovingly escorted to her final resting place by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Rene Escalante, Adrian Escalante, Cornelio Sanchez III, Cesar Esquivel, Rene V. Ramos, AJ Ramos, and Christian Robinson.
Though dementia took pieces of her memory, it could never take away her essence,
her laughter, strength, and unconditional love for her family. Elva’s legacy will continue to shine through the generations she leaves behind.
