Michael Webb, a cherished son of Rockport, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024. Born on August 19, 1947, Michael’s early years were spent in the idyllic small-town setting of Rockport, Texas. He often visited his hometown, creating lasting memories with his siblings, Danny and Patricia, and his cousin, Robert. These childhood days were filled with joy, adventure, and a deep connection to the bay, where he spent countless hours on boats, nurturing his love for fishing.
Michael had a servant’s heart, which led him to serve two tours of duty for his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he continued his dedication to service by becoming a police officer. He then followed his brother to Brazoria County where Mike served with the Freeport Police Dept. He met a beautiful clerk who worked at the station – her name was Clara. They married January 2, 1981 and were inseparable ever since.
His commitment to education saw him graduate from college and embark on a fulfilling career as a teacher. He retired from Brazoswood High School in 2012 after teaching for 25 years. His passions extended beyond his professional life; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, woodworker, and traveler, with a particular fondness for Colorado. Every summer, you could find him traveling with his family – RV and boat towed behind.
A devoted member of Temple Baptist Church in Clute, Michael was baptized as an adult, a testament of his faith to his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his wife of 43 years: Clara Webb; his sister Patricia Blackmon (Larry) of Richmond, Va.; three children: Misty Connelly (Patrick) of Lake Jackson, Michael Gabriel Webb (Crystal) of Lake Jackson, and Marcus Webb (Donna) of Denver, Co.; and grandchildren: Ashley Untermeyer, Bailey Krolczyk, Cash Connelly and Evan Webb.
He was preceded in death by his older ‘best friend’ brother Daniel S. Webb, and his first son, Tommy Webb, whose memory he cherished deeply. His legacy of love, adventure, and unwavering dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 at Stroud Funeral Home. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 10am on Thursday, September 5 at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, TX.
