Sidney Michael Gay was born on February 26, 1967, in Freeport, Texas, and passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 58.
Sidney is survived by his mother, Margaret (Gay) Mills; his Bonus Dad, James “Pops” Mills; his brother, Henry Gay (wife Melinda Gay); and his sisters, Malinda Crigger; Nicholette Reynolds (husband Brett Reynolds), and Lisa Hiatt (husband Brian Hiatt); and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Allyson Gay; his father, Kenneth Everett Gay; his son, Nicholas Palmer Gay; his daughter, Kelly Gay; his nephew, Gregory Daniel Gay; and his brothers, Philip Everett, James “Mike” Mills & Kevin Dewayne Mills.
Sidney was a deeply caring and compassionate person who loved people and would do anything he could to help others. He was nonjudgmental, easygoing, and had a special love for children and his family. After the passing of his son, Nick, Sidney lost his spark and endured many hardships and losses throughout his life. Despite this, he continued to uplift and encourage others, even during his own difficult times.
Though his life was not an easy one, Sidney’s heart remained kind, and his spirit remained giving. It brings comfort to know that his homecoming was long-awaited and filled with joy—something we may not fully understand, but trust was peaceful and beautiful.
Sidney will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service for Sidney will be held at Souls Harbour Church- on January 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
