September 26, 1951 – October 22, 2026

JoAnn Ferris Whiddon went to be with our LORD on October 22, 2026.

JoAnn is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Tony Whiddon and precious son Jarrett Whiddon; Tony’s mother Marie Whiddon, sisters Melinda and husband Allan Fikes and Melody Abshire; sister-in-law Sharon Ferris, numerous nieces and grand-nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Hazel Ferris and her brother Randy Ferris and brother-in-law Gary Abshire and father-in-law Bruce Whiddon.

JoAnn was born in Freeport, TX and was a lifelong resident of Richwood and Lake Jackson.  JoAnn had a servants heart. She played the piano and organ for Wesley First United Methodist Church in Clute from the age of 16 and grew in her faith and loved helping many people throughout her life.  She also had a love for embroidery, for quilting and sewing and we can’t forget her great salsa!  Her greatest love was for her family. There is so much more to tell about her life, just not enough time.

JoAnn balanced her home and work life well.  She worked for First Freeport Bank during the early 1970’s and moved to Chemical Bank making many lifelong friends.  After Jarrett was born in 1980 she began working at Brazosport College where she became a part of a great group of people.  She eventually moved to the Maintenance Department with Dale Sullivan and truly loved going to work.

Visitation will be at Wesley First United Methodist Church in Clute on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00.   Internment will be at Restwood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church — Wesley First United Methodist Church, 1 Wesley Dr., Clute, TX 77531
