Malinda Earlene Lewis, age 83, went to be with Our Lord peacefully at her home in Lake Jackson, Texas, on June 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Malinda was born May 5, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lawrence Avery and Margaret Elizabeth Friend. Additionally, Malinda had an entire “family of the heart”, in her neighbors The Stone Family. Her “Parents of the heart,” Wanda and Rex Stone, and their daughters, Sally and Susan.  Malinda lived a life defined by deep devotion to her family, steadfast Christian faith, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of Bennie Joe Lewis, with whom she shared 63 beautiful years of marriage. Together they raised a loving family: daughter Robin Hebert (and husband Lynn) and son Stephen Kelly Lewis (and wife Brenda). Malinda was a proud and devoted grandmother to Logan Hebert, Hallie Hebert, Brandon Lewis, and Kelsey Lewis Jones (and her husband Nathan), and a cherished great-grandmother to Kohen and Jensen Jones, who brought her great joy.

She is also survived by her sister, Larry Annette Parenti, and her “sisters by heart,” Susan and Sally Stone. Malinda was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Avery and Margaret Elizabeth Friend, and her son, Stephen Lewis as well as Wanda and Rex Stone.

As a registered nurse, Malinda worked many years alongside Dr. Resnick, offering care and comfort to countless patients. She was also a devoted homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love. Malinda was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, where she sang in the choir, taught children’s Sunday School, served on the bereavement committee, and formed many dear friendships.

Her passions included sewing, gardening, and gathering her family for holidays, birthdays, and Sunday meals—moments she treasured most. Malinda will be remembered for her quiet wisdom, her kind heart, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and devotion that continues in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church Lake Jackson, Saturday 28th, June  @ 11:00AM with a visitation held before at 10am.   Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Malinda’s life.
