Melinda Ann (Bertsch) Goodrum of Rosharon, Texas, a devoted wife, sister, and healthcare professional, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Melinda was born in Bay City, Texas, on April 17, 1966, to Leon and Dolores Bertsch and was the youngest of five children. As a lifelong Catholic, she was baptized and received her First Communion at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny.
A 1984 graduate of Sweeny High School, Melinda later attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1991and Cardiotech Ultrasound School in 2003.  She devoted her professional life to caring for others as a sonographer, earning both Cardiac (2006) and Vascular (2008) Registries. Melinda truly loved her work and cared deeply for her patients, treating each with kindness and compassion.  Her gentle spirit and caring heart earned the admiration and affection of all who knew her.
In her personal life Melinda loved music, reading, her pets, and traveling. She found joy in exploring new places and discovering the beauty of the world around her. National Parks were her favorite destinations, and she cherished her visits to Yellowstone and Yosemite. Experiencing God’s creation in places such as San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver, and along California’s breathtaking Highway 1 from San Francisco to Morro Bay strengthened her faith and filled her with awe. These journeys became some of her most treasured memories, reflecting her curiosity, gratitude, and reverence for God, in the beauty of the world around her.
Melinda is survived by her husband of 23 years, Tim Goodrum; her sister, Marie Nairn (Ralph) of Sweeny; her brothers, Mike Bertsch (Kelly) of Lake Jackson, Mark Bertsch (Patti) of Bay City, Miron Bertsch (Julie) of Magnolia; and mother-in-law, Mattie Lee Goodrum.  She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends to cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in Sweeny, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Wayne Wilkerson.  Burial will immediately follow at Restwood Memorial Park, 1038 W. Plantation Dr., Lake Jackson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Melinda’s nephews, Kyle Nairn, Wade Nairn, Ross Nairn, Jared Kirk, Jonathan Kirk, along with her brother-in-law, Roy Goodrum.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 310 N. McKinney St, Sweeny, TX 77480 or
St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
