Michael Charles Trevino was born on February 27, 1971, in Brownsville, Texas, to Manuel Trevino Sr. and Rose Trevino. Those who knew Michael knew a man of integrity, loyalty, humility, and strength. He was dependable, disciplined, and hardworking. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or put the needs of others before his own.
Dedicating more than 25 years to a career in welding, Michael approached every challenge with determination, humility, and quiet confidence. He was known for his exceptional craftsmanship, unwavering work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need. Those who knew him often said there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build, repair, or figure out.
An avid golfer and musician, Michael found peace on the golf course and shared his love of golf and music with his family, introducing his daughters to the classics and black gospel. Accompanying his wife Lurisa, he blessed others by playing the drums in worship services for many years. He also enjoyed traveling and was able to visit more than 7 countries throughout his life.
Above all else, Michael’s greatest joy was his family. He shared 32 years of marriage with Lurisa. Together they built a home filled with love, music, laughter, faith, and devotion. He was a proud and loving father to Leah and Olivia, and he warmly welcomed his future son-in-law, Michael Chittwood, into the family.
When Michael was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he faced life’s greatest challenge with remarkable courage and hope. Rather than surrender to the disease, he chose to fight and courageously participated in a clinical trial for the investigational drug, draxonrasib. Although the treatment was not a cure, it gave him additional time and contributed to research that will one day help countless others face this devastating disease. Michael defied the odds and lived 17 months longer than the average 3-6 month expectancy, a testament to his resilience, determination, and incredible strength.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving mother, Rose Trevino. He is survived by his spouse, Lurisa Trevino; daughters Leah Trevino (Michael) and Olivia Trevino; father Manuel Trevino Sr.; brothers Manny Trevino (Dolores) and Martino Trevino (Abril); nieces Manna Trevino, Evie Trevino, Gabriela Trevino, and Emma Trevino. He also leaves behind his beloved mother in love, Julie Mireles; his sisters in love, Monica Razo and Shirley Smith; niece Camellia Razo; and nephew, Nicholas Razo; who all graciously cared for him in his final days around the clock. He leaves behind many loving relatives, coworkers, and friends, whose lives are forever touched by his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit.
While his passing leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing his suffering has ended and he is now at peace in the presence of our Savior. Though our hearts are broken, our faith reminds us that this is not goodbye. Because of God’s promise of eternal life, we know that death is NOT the end.
Michael’s legacy lives on through the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the family he cherished. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. He has played his final round and is now resting peacefully on the eternal fairway.

A celebration of life for Michael Charles Trevino will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at New Beginning UPC, located at 438 Hardy St, Clute, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend, share memories, and honor his legacy. Ahead of the service, a private viewing will be held for the immediate family at 10:00 AM.
Following the church service, a graveside burial service will take place at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery, 9040 FM 359 in Richmond, Texas at 3pm, where all are welcome to join.
