R.P. Musick, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully July 25, 2024. He was 94 years old.
R.P. Musick was born February 3, 1930 in Ratcliff, Texas to Benjamin Musick and Alpha Luce. He was one of eight children: sisters Beatrice Musick Smith and Ola Mae Musick, brothers Roy Musick, Raymond Musick, Curtis Musick, Lacy Musick, and James Musick, his only surviving sibling. He spent time working for the U.S. Forestry Service in East Texas before being drafted in the Korean War. He served from 1952 until 1954 in El Paso, Texas. He met his wife, Lauretta Tinker Jacobson while stationed in El Paso. They were married on February 15, 1955. Upon his discharge from the army, they moved to Lake Jackson, Texas and R.P. accepted a job with Dow Chemical Company where he worked until his retirement in 1984. He spent several years working with Habitat for Humanity. R.P.’s two favorite pastimes, aside from his family, were hunting and fishing.
R.P. was preceded in death by his parents, wife, stepdaughter Julie Jacobson Lane, son-in-law Dan Lane, stepson Gary Jacobson, and daughter-in-law Ranette Lebow Musick. He is survived by his stepson Ronald Jacobson, sons David Musick and Reece Musick (Elizabeth), daughter-in-law Linda Jacobson, along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and his longtime friend Patricia Sury.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00am July 31, 2024, at Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church located at 102 Yaupon St, Lake Jackson, TX. Reverend Alan Trafford will officiate. Interment to follow at Restwood Funeral Home & Memorial Park located at 1038 W Plantation Dr, Clute, TX.
