Tommie “Tom” Janssen, 75 of Lake Jackson, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026,
Tom was born on April 9, 1951 in Lafayette, Indiana, to his parents, Harry and Lorene Janssen, and was raised in Auburn, Indiana. Raised in the Lutheran faith by his mother and father, Tom experienced the loss of his father to heart disease when he was 14 years old.
Tom dedicated approximately 44 years of his career to TRI-CONstruction Co., Inc., where he worked as a superintendent. During his many years with the company, he developed meaningful professional relationships and friendships, including with Japanese colleagues he worked closely with. He even learned a few words of Japanese along the way. Tom attended Benton Central Highschool, in Oxford, IN.
Tom will be remembered for his dedication, and his dry sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Mary Janssen, His children, grandchildren, siblings, Joe Janssen (Rhonda), Bruce Janssen (Joyce) and other family members. He was preceded in death by, his father, Harry H. Janssen, his mother, E. Lorene Thomas Janssen, sister, Sandie Brummet, sister, Sharon Eberle, brothers, James Janssen and Jerry Janssen.
Memorial service will be Friday, September 18, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Brazos Pointe Fellowship in Lake Jackson . Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Stroud Funeral Home.
